ED Summons Rahul Gandhi For Third Day In A Row, Section 144 Imposed.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been summoned by the ED for the third day in a row on June 15, for questioning in the National Herald case, officials said.

The Congress leader on Monday was questioned for over 10 hours, On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi was questioned for over 11 hours in the National Herald money-laundering probe. On Wednesday, the authorities have imposed Section 144 around the ED and Congress headquarters in New Delhi, as per news reports.

Hundreds of Congress leaders and supporters were detained outside the party headquarters at 24, Akbar Road and around central Delhi as they tried to hold a protest against the ED action. The Delhi Police said that it detained 217 Congress workers and leaders, including 15 MPs,

Officials said he has been called again for questioning and the recording of a statement.

The summoning has evoked strong resentment from several political groups including those in Jammu Kashmir.

Former chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti addressing a press conference in Srinagar said that the summon was aimed at silencing down all those who are critical of the policies of the BJP-led Government at the centre. With inputs from PTI
