The residents of Rangreth area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Tuesday said that the government forces barged into their homes and ransacked their belongings.

A local told Greater Kashmir that the forces entered their homes early Tuesday and thrashed the inmates without any provocation.

A bank employee said that the forces have sealed the area and that no one is allowed to move in or out.

“Our staff, including women, is also not allowed to move out of the building. We wanted to go home,” he said.

Reports said that a minor incident of stone-pelting took place in the area yesterday.
