ICC Announces Test Team of the Year 2021, Kane Williamson Named Captain.

ICC announced its Test Team of the Year 2021, which is led by New Zealand captain Kane Williamson.

Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne and India’s Rohit Sharma were named as the openers in the ICC Test Team of the year 2021.

Sri Lanka opener performed well consistently in the year 2021 and he scored 902 runs in 7 matches at an amazing average of 69.38, including four centuries. He was also nominated for the ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year award.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma provided good starts to the Indian team in Tests in 2021 and he scored 906 runs in the calendar year at an average of 47.68, including two centuries.

The No.3 & 4 in the Test team of the year were two of the best modern-day Test batters – Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne and England’s Joe Root – Marnus Labuschagne, who currently sits at the No.1 position in the ICC Test batsman rankings, scored 526 runs at an average of 65.75.

The England skipper Joe Root, who dominated in Tests despite his team’s struggle, scored 1708 runs in 15 matches at a sensational average of 61, including 6 centuries.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who led the Black Caps towards the triumph at the inaugural World Test Championship Final against India in Southampton was named as the captain of the Test team of the year 2021. He scored 395 runs with the bat at an average of 65.83 with one century.

The 36-year-old Pakistan batsman Fawad Alam was the No.6 batter in the team, who scored 571 runs in 2021 at an average of 57.10. The wicketkeeper-batsman in the Test team of the year was Indian Rishabh Pant, who scored 748 runs in 12 matches at an average of 39.36 with one memorable ton against England at Ahmedabad.

The two all-rounders in the Test team of the year 2021 were India’s Ravichandran Ashwin and New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson. Ashwin was the leading wicket-taker in the calendar year with 54 scalps in his bag, with the bat he scored 355 runs including a century against England at home. Meanwhile, Kyle Jamieson picked up 27 wickets in 5 matches at an average of 17.51. He also scored 105 runs at an average of 17.50.

The last two players in the team were the Pakistan pacers Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi. Ali picked up amazing 41 wickets in 9 games at an average of 16.07 and Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up 47 wickets in 9 matches at an average of 17.06, including three five-wicket hauls.
