India v England 2nd Test: An opening day century by KL Rahul put India in a strong position in the second Test against England at Lord’s.

England won the toss and put the visitors to bat. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul responded to the challenge by posting a century stand for the opening wicket. While Rohit Sharma showed his class in Tests, it was KL Rahul’s pure ‘test batting’ that took the plaudits.

James Anderson then accounted for Rohit Sharma’s wicket before sending back Pujara to reduce to 150/2. Virat Kohli then combined with Rahul and played at a brisk pace.

KL Rahul then scored his century in what can be termed as a Test masterclass. Kohli then fell to Robinson in a bitter end for his effort of 42 runs.

KL Rahul stood tall to end a pleasing day for Indian cricket as they look to go 1-0 up in the 5 match series.

Scorecard:

First inning: India 276/3.

KL Rahul: 127*

Rohit Sharma: 83

James Anderson 2/52.
