An Ayodhya seer associated Ram temple movement has announced that if India is not declared a Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nation) by October 2, he will take ‘Jal Samadhi (drown himself) in the Saryu river.
Ayodhya seer, Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya Maharaj also asked the Central government to terminate the nationality of Muslims and Christians.
“I demand that India should be declared a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ by October 2 or else I’ll take Jal Samadhi in river Sarayu,” Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya Maharaj was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.
This is not the first time when he has demanded to declare India as a ‘Hindu Rashtra’. Earlier, he undertook a 15-day long fast unto death to push for his demand. He broke his fast after he got the assurance from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Ruling Bharataya Janata Party (BJP) rode to power on Hindutva plank and following landslide victory in 2014 elections, the party has been increasingly assertive on the issue.
Earlier Mohan Bhagwat, chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), considered to be the parent organisation of the BJP, has asserted repetitively about the Hindu Rashtra.
Bhagwat also said that Hindutva is a word that expresses our identity along with the continuity of spirituality-based traditions and an entire wealth of value system in the land of Bharat.
Therefore, this word is applicable to all the 1.3 billion people, Bhagwat had said in his Vijay Dashmi speech in 2020.
