Srinagar city recorded the season’s coldest night so far at minus 0.5 degree as all other places in the Kashmir Valley also recorded minimum temperatures several notches below the freezing point, an official said on Saturday.

“Today was the coldest night of the season so far in Srinagar as the minimum temperature dropped to minus 0.5 degree Celsius,” the weather official told IANS on Saturday morning.
According to the official, in all other places of the valley, the night temperatures fell several notches below the freezing point because of clear night sky.
“The minimum temperature was minus 3.5 degrees in Pahalgam, minus 4.6 degrees in Gulmarg, minus 7.1 in Leh and minus 6.1 in Kargil town of Ladakh region today,” the official said.
In the Jammu region, the minimum temperatures were generally above the freezing point. In Jammu city, it was 10.6 degrees Celsius, 11.3 in Katra town, 0.5 in Banihal, 4.9 in Batote and 2.3 in Bhaderwah towns of Jammu region, the official added.
Despite the bitter night cold, residents heaved a sigh of relief as foggy weather conditions which had affected air and surface traffic in the Kashmir Valley during the last five days abated. A feeble winter sun greeted people here Saturday morning.
