A school boy is feared dead after he jumped into Jhelum river while being chased allegedly by government forces during clashes in Srinagar on Thursday, reports and witnesses said today.
Witnesses said that clashes were going on in Noorbagh locality when forces chased youths.
“Three youths jumped into Jhelum. Two of them managed to swim safely to the banks while one couldn’t,” said a witness, Pervez Ahmed.

IGP Kashmir, SJM Gilani, however, said that there was no deployment in the area.
“We have provided a rescue team to fish out the body of the youth,” he said.
