Kashmiri Pandits can request DMs in encroached property cases: MoS Home

In an attempt to help out Kashmiri Pandits, the Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said that the migrants can request District Magistrates (DMs) of concerned districts in J&K n encroached property cases.

This follows recent reports that 9 properties of Kashmiri Pandits have been returned to the original owners.

He further said that district magistrates of concerned districts could take action on eviction proceedings in case of encroachments as the DMs are the guardian of migrants’ immovable properties under the J&K Migrant Immovable Property Act, 1997.

Rai also told in Rajya Sabha that 520 migrants have returned to the valley under Prime Minister’s Developmental Package since 5 August 2019.
