Tanveer Ahmad Khan a resident of Kulgam, has secured All India Rank-2 in the Indian Economic Services (IES) 2020.
He achieved this rank in the IES exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and became the first youth from Kashmir to qualify for the IES exam.
A remarkable feat.
Tanveer Ahmad achieved this feat despite facing constraints when it comes to communication and connectivity in the valley.
Khan studied in a local primary school and later went to Government Degree College Baramulla. He then did Masters in Economics in 2018 from Kashmir University.
He would then go to Kolkata for M.Phil and prepared for IES alongwith it.
Tanveer thanked his teachers singling out one in Bilal Ahmad Wani for playing a key role in his education.
He said further said that though financial support is important but it should be an obstacle between one’s goals.
Congratulations pour in
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha took to twitter to congratulate the youth.
He wrote “Congratulations to Tanveer Ahmad Khan of Nigeenpora Kund,Kulgam for getting AIR-2 in Indian Economic Service(IES)2020.I have always believed that the youth of J&K are inherently capable & full of potential. His feat will inspire &motivate our youngsters. I wish him a bright career”.
