Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday congratulated the newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
PM Modi said that the two neighbours should focus on developmental challenges in the region.
“Congratulations to H. E. Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on his election as the Prime Minister of Pakistan,” PM Modi tweeted.

Earlier, the largest party in Pakistan National Assembly Pakistan Tehree-e-Insaaf (PTI) boycotted the assembly session while Shehbaz Sharif was elected unopposed.
Shehbaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former leader of the Opposition, was elected the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan by the National Assembly of the country
After the political turmoil in the country, the former premier Imran Khan lost the premiership due to the no-confidence vote.
