The residents of Aripanthan area in Budgam are suffering due to the non-completion of the Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) in the area.

Details available to The Kashmiriyat revealed that the construction of the centre was completed in the year 2018, but since then locals have been waiting for the PHC to get functional.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the residents of Aripanthan and adjoining areas of Teshil Beeerwah of Budgam district said that they are suffering immensely due to non functionality of PHC at newly constructed building at Aripanthan.

“The project of the building was completed but the authorities have failed in making it useful to public for health services,” a local resident said.

Another local resident Tanveer Ahmed said that for a minor medical issue we have to travel at least five kilometers to reach the Sub District Hospital. “Because of the callous approach of the administration the hospital building has turned into a safe heaven for drug addicts. Locals are scared to go there as drug addicts from all the areas come and use drugs there without any disturbance whatsoever,” he said.

Local residents said that despite repeated media stories and public complaints, the authorities have turned deaf ear to this issue.

Appealing the LG-led admin to intervene, the locals of the area demand that the PHC be made functional at the earliest.
