With the T20 World Cup less than a month away Pakistan is going through a dilemma about its selected squad for the mega event.

Some of the players in the squad for the World Cup are not performing and their lack of form has suggested that changes can be made to the team that departs for the tournament.

In the ongoing National T20 Cup, players like Azam Khan, Shoaib Maqsood and Khushdil Shah have failed to live up to the expectations. While pacer Mohammad Hasnain and all rounder Mohammad Nawaz haven’t exactly delivered.

When PCB announced its 15 man squad for the World Cup, eyebrows were raised as experienced players like Shoaib Malik and Sarfaraz Ahmad were left out in favour of Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah.

Soon after, a report emerged claiming that captain Babar Azam was unhappy with the squad. Now, according to Dawn, PCB could changes to the squad.

And a Pakistan Cricket Board official did not attempt to play down the rumours.“Two changes can still be made to the World Cup squad,” the official told Dawn on the condition of anonymity on Tuesday. “But nothing is confirmed yet.”

T20 World Cup Possible Replacements.

One of the players who can lose his spot is Sohaib Maqsood, who has scores of 24, 0, 18, 15 and 17 in his last five T20 innings. Even wicket-keeper Azam Khan has had a tough time in the middle of late. He has aggregated only 56 runs in his last five knocks.

Meanwhile, pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain has proven to be a little expensive with the ball. In his last three T20 innings, Hasnain has conceded a minimum of 40 runs in all three matches.

Opener Fakhar Zaman, who was named as a travelling reserve, is now being tipped to make the first-team squad.

While the under performing quartet of Azam Khan, Sohaib Maqsood, Mohammad Hasnain and Mohammad Nawaz could be replaced by Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, Shahnawaz Dahani and Usman Qadir.
