PSL 7: Multan Sultans continued their unbeaten run in this year’s PSL after defeating Peshawar Zalmi by 42 runs, and became the first team to qualify for the playoffs as action moved from Karachi to Lahore.

Shan Masood continued his good run of form that has seen him picked for the upcoming Test series against Australia by scoring 68 runs. He was joined by his captain as the duo put on 98 runs for the opening wicket.

Despite a solid start, the game seemed in balance but then Tim David scored a quickfire 18-ball 34. Multan managed 74 runs in overs 14-19 but still Peshawar managed to restrict them to 182 runs in 20 overs.

The chase never got going for Zalmi inspite dew coming on. Blessing Muzarabani accounting for both the openers.

Shoaib Malik and Liam Livingstone then helped rebuild the inning, but once Livingstone was dismissed wickets kept falling.

Although Malik held out at one end, regular wickets by Sultans’ bowlers kept striking at regular intervals.  Ben Cutting came in and smashed Shahnawaz Dahani for two sixes but at the end it proved to be to little too late for Zalmi as Multan stormed into the playoffs.

Brief scores:

Multan Sultans: 182/7 in 20 overs (Shan Masood 68, Mohammad Rizwan 34, Tim David 34; Saqib Mahmood 2-44, Wahab Riaz 2-34, Salman Irshad 2-34)

Peshawar Zalmi: 140/10 in 19.3 overs (Shoaib Malik 44; Blessing Muzarabani 3-18, Shahnawaz Dahani 2-35, Khushdil Shah 3-26)
