Afghanistan recorded a massive 130 runs win over Scotland in Group 2 of Super 12, to underline their tag of dark horses in the tournament.

Winning the toss Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi decided to bat first. His decision was justified from the beginning as Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Shehzad taking Scotland bowlers to cleaners. At the end of the powerplay they had scored 54 runs and lost just one wicket.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Najibullah Zadran then took the charge with a commanding partnership. Zadran scored 59 of 34 balls getting on the last ball of the inning with Afghanistan posting 190/4 in 20 overs.

In response Scotland couldn’t come to grips with the spin web of Afghanistan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan didn’t gave the Scots any breather. Mujeeb picked 5 wickets and Rashid getting 4 as Scotland were wrapped up for 60 runs in 10.2 overs.

Afghanistan’s spin contingent sending out a strong message that they may very well live up to the hype of dark horses in the T20 World Cup. With pitches suiting them and their batting impressing Afghanistan is a dangerous side in the tournament.
