Australia gave their semi final chances a huge boost after a rout against Bangladesh which also pushed their net run rate in their Super 12 clash of the T20 World Cup.

Electing to bowl first, they didn’t allow Bangladesh a moment’s rest. This was aggressive Australia of the old and in a must win game they came all guns blazing.

At the end of 3 overs Bangladesh had lost 3 wickets for just 10 runs. The devastation started by fast bowlers was carried by spinner Adam Zampa as the leggie ran through the batting line up picking a career best 5 for 19 in his 4 overs as Bangladesh were bowled out for 73 runs in 15 overs.

Australia batted as a team on a mission to restore pride after a humiliating defeat against England. Captain Aaron Finch scored 40 of just 20 balls to ensure Australia reached the target in just 6.2 overs giving their net run rate a massive boost.

This means a win in their final game against West Indies will likely secure a semi final spot for the Aussies.

Bangladesh 73 in 15 overs (Adam Zampa 5-19, Josh Hazlewood 2-8)

Australia 78/2 in 6.2 overs (Aaron Finch 40; Shoriful Islam 1-9)
