The RJ who used to stammer- Sardar Nasir Ali Khan (RJ Nasir).

The job a radio jockey is to keep its listeners entertained and speak almost non stop. Sardar Nasir Ali Khan is one of Srinagar’s first RJ’s and continues to be one of the most beloved on air voices. What makes this remarkable is the fact that he used to stammer till the age of 17.

Nasir overcame that and much more including bullying at school to reach where he is now in his career. A successful radio host now working as Program Head at FM Tadka, another popular radio station Kashmir.

He began his career at All India Radio in 2005 and has worked for radio ever since. Before getting into radio, Nasir completed graduation in 2008. He went on to complete his post graduation from Delhi NASCO Media in Noida.

He went on to find work in one of the news channels as an intern. When he came back to Kashmir in 2009, Kashmir’s first private radio station was looking for a RJ, Nasir found his calling.

He began hosting the Morning Show which grew immensely in popularity. So much so that Nasir’s name became synonymous with the radio channel. You couldn’t talk about one without mentioning the other.

Nasir Ali Khan has become one of the influential voices on air as well. As an Rj he understands his work is to keep people informed and entertained but at the same time ensure that a level of decorum is to be maintained.

A position where he is also comes with a lot of responsibility. A lot of times he is live on air and has to keep in mind the audience he is speaking to at that time.

He continues to raise humanitarian issues as well the highlighting the challenges faced by the common man in Kashmir.
He has also been a part anti drug addiction and other such campaigns raising awareness about social issues all over.

Perhaps the interesting about all this is that he touches these issues and address them in a satirical way. This both amuses and informs the listener about the issues that matter.

Sardar Nasir Ali Khan remains a source of inspiration for others and his voice will forever be associated with radio jockeying in Kashmir.
