The schedule for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 has been announced with marquee India-Pakistan clash set for August 28.
India are the defending champions of the tournament. India won the previous edition of the Asia Cup in 2018 by defeating Bangladesh in the final.
India has also won the most 7 titles out of 12 Asia Cup tournaments. Sri Lanka has won 5 titles while Pakistan accounts for 2 titles.
Top cricket teams of Asia are part of the Asia Cup 2022. 6 teams will participate in the tournament. They are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
While one more team will qualify for the tournament after the qualifier round. 4 teams namely Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore and UAE will battle against each other in the qualifier round.
The tournament will take place in the T20 format as it will serve as a massive warm-up opportunity for the 6 participating Asia teams in the preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup which is all set to take place later this year in Australia.

The tournament will be hosted by Sri Lanka Cricket. But due to ongoing political and economical unrest inside the nation, the Asian Cricket Council decided to change the venue of the premier tournament.
Later, it was decided that UAE will be the new venue of the tournament. Hence, Sri Lanka Cricket will host the tournament in the new venue UAE. Since UAE is the venue of the tournament, three grounds will hosts all the matches. They are Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Stadium, and Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium.
The main tournament will feature six teams divided into two groups. India, Pakistan and the qualifier are in Group A while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan form Group B. Each team plays within the group once.
The top two teams qualify for the Super 4 round where the teams play against each other in league format again before the final where the top two would feature.

Asia Cup 2022 will be telecasted on the Star Sports network in India and Disney + Hotstar will stream the online coverage of the event. The same network will provide live coverage to Asia Cup 2022 in other subcontinent regions like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
