Two Kashmiri journalists Majid Maqbool and Syed Shahriyar won RedInk Awards 2021 by the Mumbai Press Club in two different categories.
Syed Shahriyar won in the Human Rights category for his story: ‘My Life in Kashmir’- A Year Since the Abrogation of Article 370 for The Quint.
Tridip Kanti Mandal was the joint winner in this category.
Meanwhile, Majid Maqbool won the RedInk Award 2021 for the category of The Arts. Maqbool had written the story for Mint Lounge.
Journalists Mahtab Alam and Majid Maqbool were the joint winners of RedInk Awards.
Year 2021 was especially hard for journalists in Kashmir, with frequent raids at their offices and homes while some of them were regularly harassed and even intimated, however this didn’t deter them from raising the voice of the voiceless and get recognized for it.
