People in Kashmir continue to suffer from prolonged power cuts which comes as the holy month of Ramadhan is going on with areas plunged into darkness especially during important hours of Sehri and Iftari.
However, the concerned department is unaware of improvement in the power scenario, saying that nothing can be stated as of now.
The local consumers from different districts of Kashmir told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the present power scenario is worsening with each passing day, thus leaving them to lurch at large.

Adil Ahmad, a resident from Srinagar outskirts said that the electricity remained snapped since the wee hours of this morning, leaving the consumers to suffer.
He added that the situation has worsened from the last couple of days. “The electricity was being snapped periodically for one hour. But, now the people are being forced to reel under darkness for hours together,” he said.
Ahmad also said that it is for the time that such a mess is being witnessed and the department doesn’t bother to take requisite measures to put an end to the sufferings of people. “In the ongoing holy month of Ramadan, the people who are in Aietiqaaf, known as Mu’attaqif have been facing tremendous hardships as the inverters too have gone down due to the absence of electricity,” he added.
Talking to KNO, Chief Engineer, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Javaid Yousuf Dar said that nothing can’t be said as of now as the demand has increased to a large extent outside.
“The present power scenario would continue in Kashmir. Until and unless the situation improves outside, the situation would remain unchanged. The electricity demand has increased outside, which has resulted in power curtailments here,” he said, adding that the present curtailments would continue—(KNO)
