MeT department has on Tuesday predicted light rains and snowfall at isolated places during December 23 and 24.
There is also a forecast for widespread snowfall during 27-28 in Kashmir valley on account of Western Disturbances.
A meteorological department official has said that Western Disturbance is going to affect Jammu and Kashmir from Wednesday afternoon onwards.
Under its influence, light rain/snow can occur at a few places between 23 and 24 afternoon. A short moderate spell in higher reaches can’t be ruled out, the official said.
As per the official, another Western Disturbance, will affect J&K from 26th evening due to which plains in Kashmir may receive season’s first light to moderate widespread snowfall at most places on December 27-28.
A heavy snowfall at one or two places is also expected, added the official.
