A 12-year-old girl was mauled to death by a wild animal in Batangi village of Boniyar on Tuesday, days after two teenagers were also killed in the different areas of Baramulla district.
A police official said that Rutba Manzoor 12, daughter of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat of Batangi village of Boniyar was lifted away by a wild animal, possibly a leopard and taken to a nearby forest.
Police said that the locals while hearing the cries of the teenager tried to chase the wild animal but couldn’t save the girl child.

“The dead body of the girl child was later on found in the dense forest,” the police official confirmed.
Earlier, two teenagers were mauled to death by a wild animal at Cholan Kalsi Ghati and Trikanjan Boniyar areas of Uri.
The incidents have created a general sense of fear among the residents.
Locals said that a leopard was spotted yesterday on Monday evening in Trikanjan market.
