Srinagar, Feb 1: The Union Government has proposed an allocation of ₹41,000.07 crore for Jammu & Kashmir in the Union Budget 2025-26, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on Saturday.
Key Budgetary Allocations for J&K:
- ₹40,619.30 crore: Central assistance to bridge the resource gap.
- ₹279 crore: Grants for the Union Territory Disaster Response Fund (UTDRF).
- ₹101.77 crore: Resource gap funding for infrastructure projects.
No Increase in Central Assistance
The budgetary allocation remains unchanged compared to the previous year. In contrast, the revised financial assistance for the ongoing fiscal (2024-25) was ₹41,000.07 crore, reduced from the originally planned ₹42,277.74 crore.
This assistance aims to support Jammu & Kashmir’s development, infrastructure, and disaster response initiatives while addressing financial resource gaps.
