In a shameful incident an India Air Force (IAF) Lieutenant was arrested on charges of rape of a fellow officer, at Coimbatore Airforce College.
The Lieutenant was at the college for training among 30 IAF officers rom across India.
During this stint, a 29-year-old woman officer sustained a leg injury while playing basketball on September 10 and had taken painkillers before going to sleep.
The officer then alleged that when she woke up in the middle of the night, she was shocked to find herself naked with the accused officer also lying naked, next to her.
The officer then claimed that she raised a complaint with the senior officials, but no action was taken. She approached the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner and later the Gandhipuram All Women Police initiated an investigation based on which the accused Lieutenant was arrested.
The accused was then produced before a magistrate on Sunday morning and sent to Udumalaipet sub-jail for a day.
