Srinagar, Aug 24 (KNS): As the curfew and restrictions continued for the 47th consecutive day across Kashmir on Wednesday, inhabitants of various areas here have complained of facing acute shortage of essential commodities and baby food.

Inhabitants of several areas of Srinagar city, including Habba Kadal, Fateh Kadal, Khanyar, Eidgah, Nowhatta, Batamaloo and others said that they are not being allowed to purchase essential commodities, especially baby food.

“In absence of baby food, infants are suffering badly,” they said.

They alleged that forces personnel don’t allow shopkeepers in the interiors of the city to open their shops. “Besides forces, groups of youth also appear in the localities and force shopkeepers to close down their shops,” the residents said.

“The authorities should allow us to purchase the essential commodities and baby food,” they said.

They later appealed to the state administration to look into the issue and redress their grievances at the earliest.
