India recorded a first win in the T20 World Cup 2021 beating Afghanistan convincingly to stay alive in the tournament.

Here are some of the tweets doing rounds on twitter:Banter

A complete performance saw Men In Blue post 210 runs in 20 overs and then restrict Afghanistan to 144 in their allotted overs.

This was the type of performance everyone expects from India and it arrived at just the right time, for Afghanistan they will lament lapses in bowling and fielding allowing India to post such a huge total.

While this win gives India a chance to reach the semi finals, netizens online didn’t react kindly to Afghanistan’s performance in such an important fixture. Some users even mocked Afghanistan and said the match was fixed seeing the Afghanistan efforts in the match.

From a joke this spiralled into a full blown twitter trend, being on top after the match finished.

Here are some of the tweets doing rounds on twitter:

One of the Twitter users wrote, “It is so sad to see a country that fought with so much vigour and passion throughout the tournament to sell out to the bigger team and let them win at the highest stage of cricket. Sad to see India ruin the beauty of the gentleman’s sport.”

Reality can be seen. After loosing against Pakistan when effort is done and against India when money does the effort.

Banter

Ofcourse this is some fan banter that usually follows a match involving India or Pakistan. Fans from both sides engage in high level trolling targeting the sad state of affairs of both countries. Regardless of who wins or loses, memers always have a field day. And this is yet another example of this.

Fans should enjoy this banter but not let anything serious come out of it as all players play with pride for their country.

Former Pakistan captains Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram played down suggestions on social media of match-fixing during the India-Afghanistan clash. The pace bowling duo dismissed the claims as ‘conspiracy theories.’

Reacting to the trends, Wasim Akram said on A Sports, “I don’t know why we like to create such conspiracy theories? India are a very good team. They just had couple of bad days at the start of the tournament.
