Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is counting the financial set back of New Zealand’s withdrawal from the country before the proposed series.

Apart from suffering on the cricketing front as England followed New Zealand in cancelling their Pakistan tour, PCB has been hit by financial crisis as well.

Reports have started circulating that the PCB reportedly spent nearly a staggering Rs 27 Lakh in food bills for the officers, who were in charge of security during the series, in just eight days.

The country’s cricket board hired five SPs and over 500 SSPs (police officers) for the security of the Kiwis along with the Pakistan Army in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. PCB now needs to shell out around INRT 27 lakhs just to pay off the food bills of the officers who were in charge of security of the New Zealand team.

The reports further added that each security personnel was served biriyani twice a day.

New Zealand’s withdrawal dealt a massive blow to Pakistan’s hopes of staging regular international cricket, with England subsequently calling off their men’s and women’s tours.

Pakistan Cricket fans, team management, and former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar were seething with anger after New Zealand opted out from their tour of Pakistan.
