Can’t Refuse To Play With Pakistan: BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla over recent calls to cancel Indo-Pak clash.

While condemning the recent spree of killings in Kashmir, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla has said that Board can’t pull out from ‘international commitment’ of playing against Pakistan as it is an ICC event.

“We strongly condemn killings in (Jammu and Kashmir). Strict action should be taken against terror organisations. As far as the match (T20 WC IND vs PAK) is concerned, under ICC’s international commitments you can’t refuse to play against anyone. You’ve to play with teams in ICC tournaments,” Rajeev Shukla BCCI VP told ANI.

There have calls for cancellation of the highly anticipated Indo-Pak World Cup clash in Dubai due to the recent tensions between the two nations.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh had asked for ‘reconsideration’ due to the recent civilian killings in the valley.

“I think the match should be reconsidered since the relations between India and Pakistan aren’t good,” Singh responded to a query if India-Pakistan match should even be held in the wake of targeted killings in Jammu and Kashmir.

Punjab Minister Pargat Singh has also called for the cancellation of the match saying we should avoid anything that may contribute towards further souring the relationship between the two nations.

“India vs Pakistan match in T20 World Cup shouldn’t be held because the situation at the border isn’t ideal and both the countries are currently going through a stressful period. We have to guard humanity and not do anything that may end up putting further stress on the relationship between the two countries,” he said.
