Closed For 30 Weeks, J&K Admin Mulls To Reopen Jamia Masjid For Prayers.

 The Jammu and Kashmir administration is mulling to reopen the historic Jamia Masjid at Nowhatta area of Srinagar for prayers.

The Masjid remained closed for the mandatory congregational prayers for 30 straight weeks.

Inspector General of Police (IGP)  Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that the government is considering to reopen the historic Jamia Masjid in the next week, reported news agency KNO.

Meanwhile, IGP Kashmir and Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir today visited the historic Masjid to review the arrangements. The duo also held meeting in this regard with Imam Jamia and Secretary Auqaf Jamia Masjid.

Pertinently, the Masjid was closed for the mandatory prayers due to Covid-19 pandemic last year.

Also, the head cleric of Jamia Masjid Mirwaiz Umar Farooq continues to remain closed, who gives Friday sermons at the pulpit of the historic Masjid.
