Did Babar Azam really lose his phone, or was it all part of the plan?
Mohammad Babar Azam, a Pakistani international Cricketer and the former captain of the Pakistan national cricket team, on Last Thursday, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that “I have lost my phone and contacts,” he said, claiming to have misplaced both. “I’ll respond as soon as I locate it to everyone”, sparkling curiosity among his fans. Later, it was found to be nothing but a clever ploy for a Ufone 4G advertisement.
I have lost my phone and contacts. Will get back to everyone as soon as I find it.

In Pakistan, a flurry of leaked public personalities’ photos, films, and recordings in recent months has spurred important discussions about digital security. Many were concerned that any compromised data would soon be made public due to Babar Azam’s prominent position.
Besides being known as part of the famous Fab 5, the batter has also made himself a profitable brand for various companies in the country. He has appeared in numerous advertisements and promotional events for various organizations throughout the years.
Few people accepted Babar’s words when he claimed to have lost his phone and all of his contacts in a tweet on his official X handle.
Many others insist that the message was only an advertisement. Babar was found to be back to his business on the next day and was seen in the grand ceremony at the Gaddafi Stadium. After that, he played against New Zealand in the opening game of the Tri-series, and the reason for his misplaced phone has finally been made public.
The promo, which featured Babar Azam exploring his phone alongside his fans from various backgrounds, was for a mobile phone called the Ufone 4G. It turned out to be a rather interesting one. He eventually finds his phone, and the ad ends with Babar talking about the features and emphasizing the huge data that the mobile gives. Babar Azam’s viral post, as well as this advertising, are comparable to what Virat Kohli did for Vivo in India in February 2023.
