Div Com Directs Officials To Remove Encroachments Along Dal Lake In 2 days.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole has directed the concerned officials to remove all the encroachment, debris, scraps lying along the road side, banks of Dal lake within two days.

While conducting a spot visit to the fore shore road, Pole impressed upon all the stake holding departments – SMC, LAWDA and R&B- to immediately remove the encroachment, debris  scraps lying along the road side, median of road and footpath/banks of Dal lake within two days.

Pole also directed R&B department and Tehsildar Khanyar to ensure demarcation and profile status of land upto 50 meters from the road followed by the removal of encroachment.

The Div Com said that LAWDA shall strictly remove the construction material lying on the premises of sewerage plant which is giving a bad look to the road, besides, shall utilize the chemicals to stop the bad smell coming out of the STP.

Similarly, Chief Engineer KPDCL, Kashmir was directed to shift the electric poles which are erected in between the footpath, besides, repairing damaged poles and hanging wires to avoid any mishap to the lives and property of the commuters.

“R&B department shall maintain the road and roadsides to ensure that the stones coming out of the footpath sides/road sides/median of road are erected and installed properly. SMC shall do tiling of the footpaths and the floriculture department shall also maintain the decoration part, social forestry to plant saplings,” Pole said.

Before culminating the tour the divisional commissioner impressed upon all the officers/representatives of stake holding department to conduct an extensive tour of fore shore road and  Tsuntkul within two days and see the shortcomings  and problems if any so that same, can be overpowered up to  Tuesday.

This follows High Court ordering  Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) to  ‘take more effective steps to ensure all the encroachment around the Dal Lake is removed,”
