Czech Republic stunned 10-men Netherlands to pull of a upset and reach quarter finals of Euro 2020.

A contest which was even for most part was changed dramactically when Dutch defender Matt De Ligt saw red for handball. Czech Republic seized the initiative and 13 minutes later Tomas Holes headed them ahead.

It was a bitter pill for Netherlands to swallow as they had looked dangerous until the red card. The Czech made their advantage count as goal scorer Holes then assisted Patrik Schick for his side’s second as they sealed a memorable win.

Czech Republic will now face Denmark in Azerbaijan for a place in the semi finals on July 3.

Belgium knockout holders Portugal

Belgium reached the quarter finals of Euro 2020, after a narrow win over Portugal, who will regret not finishing off their chances.

A Thorgan Hazard goal on 42 minutes was the only one of this last 16 encounter, as Belgium move forward looking to win a first ever major trophy.

For Portugal Diogo Jota went close, firing over a snap shot. Defender Ruben Dias fired straight at the keeper from point blank range, Raphael Guerreiro hit the post and Joao Felix dragged a late effort wide.

Belgium have now lost only once in their last 27 outings. Gladly, for their manager Roberto Martinez this win was built on the type grit that wins tournaments. This win sets up a mouth watering clash against Italy in the quarter finals on July 2 in Munich.
