Google CEO Sundar Pichai who was just recently awarded the Padma Bhushan, alongside Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, has been booked by Mumbai Police for a Copyright Violations Act case.

Pichai has been booked along with five more of his company officials.

The case involves a movie uploaded on YouTube without authorization of the creator.

Film director Suneel Darshan went to the courts to complain about Google allowing unauthorised persons to upload his film “Ek Hasina Thi Ek Deewana Tha” on YouTube.

“On directions of a court, a case has been registered against Google CEO Sundar Pichai and five other company officials for Copyright Act violation,” said Mumbai police.

The Film Director Suneel Darshan says in his complaint said that Google allowed unauthorised persons to upload his film ‘Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha’ on YouTube. He adds that he has not sold his film to anyone or released it yet. However, due to the illegal upload, it is currently online on YouTube and has already garnered a million views.

Darshan also says that he complained to YouTube for the illegal upload of his film but the latter did not address the concerns . As a result, he was forced to take it up with the authorities.

Google and Pichai are yet to comment on the matter.
