Fruit Growers and Dealers on Monday welcomed the decision of Jammu Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha to not stop trucks loaded with fresh fruit on the national highway.

The dealers thanked LG Sinha for resolving their grievance.

Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sopore Fruit Mandi president, Fayaz Ahmad Malik while welcoming the decision said that the directions passed by LG Sinha, regarding no halting of trucks loaded with fresh fruit on the national highway, should be implemented strictly on ground.

He also said that they warmly welcome the Amarnath Yatris as they are “our guests.”

Fayaz further said that they were relieved after LG passed directions to the concerned officials, as their trucks were heading to their respective destinations.

“We always believe in the decisions of the government and every class is benefiting from their decisions,” he added.

On Sunday, fruit Fruit growers and dealers at Sopore staged a protest, alleging that their fruit-laden trucks were being stopped on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in view of the Amarnath Yatra.

Following the protests and several representations, LG Sinha said that directions were passed to the concerned officials for not stopping fruit-laden trucks along NH-44 and stated that administration was trying to facilitate everyone including Yatris and Transporters so that no one faces any inconvenience.

Notably, after LG’s directions, J&K Traffic police issued advisory for the movement of yatris, tourists and trucks along Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and Mughal Road—(KNO)
