Heroin Worth 32 Crores Seized In Kashmir First Half Of 2022 Alone.

The drug trade has been on the rise in Kashmir in the first six months of 2022 alone.

According to official statistics, heroin is the substance that security personnel has recently seized in the largest quantity in Kashmir.

16.23746 kg of heroin worth over Rs 32 crore was seized from drug dealers in Kashmir in the first half of 2022, as per the data.

A total of 2.017 kg of heroin was found in January, while 5.805 kg was found in February.

In March, when 82.5 grams of heroin were recovered, the recovery rate fell.

The most heroin was found in the month of April, where 7.355 kilograms of it was found, followed by 903.96 grams in May, and 35 and 39 grams from drug traffickers in the months of June and July, respectively.

The Jammu Kashmir Police stated that it is taking multiple steps to control the drug trade. The Police also claim that drugs were being smuggled from across the border.

The government aims to place cameras along the Line of Control, which separates Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

According to officials, the biggest amount of heroin recovered this year (6400 grams) was found in the Budgam district of central Kashmir in the month of April, and the second-highest recovery (5700 grams) was found in the Pulwama district of south Kashmir in the month of February.

Additionally, 359 persons from nine districts in Kashmir have been detained by the police on suspicion of narcotics trafficking. The only district in which no such incidence has so far been reported this year is Shopian.

According to official statistics, during the first half of this year, the Police also recovered cannabis (129785 grams), illegal alcohol (133 bottles), brown sugar (2508.50 grams), tablets (56139), codeine (2271 bottles), poppy straw (1095.80 kg), and charas (72365 grams) as well as cash worth Rs 7,60,260 from the possession of drug dealers.
