Rejecting the SIT probe which gave clean chit to police and central forces in the Hyderpora encounter, families of victims called the probe a ‘staged drama.’

Families of Mohammed Altaf Bhat and Dr. Mudasir Gul, both residents of Srinagar said that the entire aim of the probe was to give a clean chit to the force personnel.

“We are not satisfied with the investigation. The same drama was narrated and twisted. They deliberately took 43 days, but the SIT yielded no results,” the families said.

The family members of Mohammed Altaf claimed that the CCTV installed in Altaf’s building was not working for the past 15 months. “The CCTV footage is also fabricated. They should independently verify the CCTV footage,” the family said.

The families also said that they have also been cooperative. “we were summoned and asked to produce documents several times and we have provided all support and documents in the case,” the family said, as per a news report.

“Bhat’s body had visible torture marks. If he was killed in crossfire by bullets why were torture marks visible on his whole body? Everyone in our locality is witness to the incident,” the family member said.
