JEE Mains 2026 Exam: Dates, Changes, and Registration Process
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the JEE Mains 2026 exam schedule on its website jeemain.nta.nic.in. The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is one of India’s most important exams for students who want to pursue engineering degrees in top institutes like IITs, NITs, and IIITs.
JEE Main 2026 Exam Dates
The JEE Main exam will be conducted in two sessions next year — Session 1 in January and Session 2 in April.
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Registration for Session 1 | October 2025 onwards |
| JEE Main Session 1 Exam | January 21–30, 2026 |
| Registration for Session 2 | Last week of January 2026 onwards |
| JEE Main Session 2 Exam | April 1–10, 2026 |
New Changes in Registration Process
This year, NTA has introduced an important new feature to make the registration process easier and more accurate.
When students enter their Aadhaar number, their details — such as name, date of birth, gender, photograph, and address — will be automatically fetched from the UIDAI database.
This step helps reduce mistakes and saves time while filling out the form.
However, candidates must still manually enter details like their father’s or mother’s name, as Aadhaar does not contain these.
If there is a name mismatch between the Aadhaar card and Class 10th marksheet, students will get an option to edittheir details before submitting.
Exam Centre Allocation and Concerns
A public notice released on October 19 also clarified how exam centres will be assigned.
It was earlier rumored that students might not get to choose their exam cities, and centres would be given based on the address in Aadhaar.
Many students and parents were worried about this because if their Aadhaar address is outdated, they might have to travel long distances to reach the exam centre — increasing costs and inconvenience.
