Umran Malik thundered past Lockie Ferguson to bowl the fastest ball of IPL 2022, clocking at 154kph twice, in the match against Chennai Super Kings.
The first came in the 10th over a full ball on the stumps which was driven down the ground for four by CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer clocked 154 kmph again in the 19th over, a yorker to MS Dhoni which was dug out for a single.
The pacer, who has been competing with New Zealand and Gujarat Titans counterpart Lockie Ferguson for bowling the fastest deliveries in this competition, edged past the seasoned Kiwi fast bowler by a whisker, overhauling Ferguson’s record of 153.9 kph.
Malik finished with figures of 4-0-48-0, conceding 33 of those runs to Gaikwad.
His expensive spell came a game after he had his best performance.
