Aadil Gurezi is a musical artist from Kashmir who shot to fame with the number “Dupte Nunem” on YouTube which garnered 2 million views, at that time the highest of any Kashmiri YouTuber. He sings both Kashmiri and Hindi songs.

His musical journey had quite a rough beginning. After trying out his luck in Mumbai, he had to return home because of an issue with his throat. He was told by doctors he won’t be singing anymore and if carried on he could lose his voice for life.

While in Mumbai he had recorded his song “Dupte Nunem” and had to plead with his family to help him release the song. A media house in Mumbai reached out and on April 1st, 2018 released a video with Aadil’s song which broke records.

He eventually got treated for his problem and received support from all around. During that time his song had been released and people were lapping it up with great fervor.

Another turning point for Aadil came when he went to Dehradun and performed on stage. This he says gave him the confidence to go further.

The young singer from Gurez also believes that artists in Kashmir haven’t been given their due. He says that people take songs, poetry from anyone and post it on social media without giving any credit. This he believes needs to change.

He himself gave Shiekh Fayaz credit for writing the lyrics and waited almost a month for permission from the artist to upload the song. He believes credit to the original artist is a mark of respect.

His first song was released in 2018 and he hasn’t looked back since. Along with “Dupte Nunem”, his other hits include “Chaand” a Hindi song quite popular among listeners. Another song “Lolo” is one of Aadil’s hits of recent time.

Aadil believes in create chances for oneself and that nobody is going to help you out at home. He encourages others to become self-taught and that in any art discipline is the pre requisite. One can achieve success gradually if they are disciplined enough to follow their art with dedication and that is what Aadil has shown.
