National Conference (NC) has claimed they have inducted nearly 13.5 lakh members within three months of launching a membership drive in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the NC leadership, the membership drive received a huge response from Kashmir and Jammu provinces. They said the membership drive is yet to take place in the Ladakh region.

“It is an encouraging feat that we have been able to attain 13.5 lakh membership figure within just three months despite COVID pandemic and law and order problem in some areas,” the NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar said.

“The figures are also encouraging before the proposed assembly polls as people have already started reposing their trust on NC,” he said.

Sagar said the party had also formed youth and women wings at every level starting from halqas.

“We are trying our best to strengthen our party at every level and motivate youth and women to our party fold. It will help us to be more popular among people from all backgrounds,” he said.

Presently, the National Conference (NC) and its leaders are busy strengthening their organization at the block level with several meetings and outreach programs.

Imran Nabi Dar, the party spokesperson said the party has already completed the intra-party elections in 60 blocks of Jammu and Kashmir out of 143. The polls for the remaining 83 blocks will conclude within a week, he said.

“Our party follows a fully democratic process to elect the representative at every level and sometimes the workers also choose their representative through consensus in case a few person nominations are filed,” he said.

Senior NC leaders Sakina Itoo, Ali Muhammad Dar, and Bashir Ahmad Veeri, who is working as election observers have been busy monitoring the process to see whether the polls are happening as per the strategy.
