Making most of the most of the first inning debacle of JK cricket team, Saurashtra batsman piled up runs on the second day of the Ranji Trophy match at GGM Science College ground, Jammu on Wednesday.

At the end of second days play, Saurashtra were batting on 491 runs for the loss of nine wickets in response to JK’s first inning score of 138 runs. Saurashtra already lead by 353 runs with one wicket in hand.

The day started with Saurashtra starting their first inning from 150 for the loss of two wickets. They lost their third wicket on 201 runs in shape of Vasudeva who scored 44 runs. The other unbeaten batsman SP Jackson went on to score 121 runs. For Saurashtra, Vyas scored 53, CS Jani scored 36. The number nine batsman JD Uandkat and DA jadeja were batting on 91 and 38 respectively when the days play was called off.

It was the day when Saurashtra batsman showed the hosts JK how to bat on the wicket on which they were bundled out for 138 runs.

Initially Jackson held on the innings together and when it was looking Saurashtra inning would end up quickly now, Unadkat and Jadeja shared 113 runs partnership between them.

They are still going strong and would like to score a few more runs before JK would resume its second inning.

For JK, VK Dogra and Z Sofi took three wickets each while Sameer Ali chipped in with two wickets. Saurashtra have already gained first inning lead points from the match and their next target would be not to bat again in the match and gain bonus point. The bonus would help them strengthen their position at the top of points table. The next two days of the game would be last chance for the JK side to salvage some pride in the season that was plagued by mediocre performances.
