A shutdown was observed in Srinagar on Friday over the derogatory remarks made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokespersons against the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
Reports said that shops and business establishments were shut in the city, besides traffic movement was thin in the summer capital of Jammu Kashmir.
The insulting comments were made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Spokespersons Nupur Sharma over a live TV show which evoked condemnation from Gulf and other countries.
Meanhile, a curfew has been imposed in Bhaderwah, Kishtwar and Ramban districts as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.

The authorities have also snapped internet services in several parts of Srinagar and in Chenab valley as a precautionary measure.
