Uzma Shafi is an emerging female singer from Anantnag, Kashmir and she has soared to popularity after her two songs ‘Han Han Cham and ‘Posh Daswanai’ proved to be massive hits.

She has one more song to her name, her first one ‘Waade Saeri Phutravit’, which was written and composed by her.

The singer has gained a huge fan following after her song releases with people encouraging her originality in both composition and voice.

Uzma began writing poetry at an early age and was inspired by Mirza Ghalib’s work. Shortly afterwards she was encouraged by her school teacher to continue writing poetry.

In fact her first song began as a work of poetry and she sought permission from her father to take up singing. However, her father denied her but this didn’t discourage Uzma who persisted with singing eventually coming out with her first song in 2021.

As we have seen an emergence of a new crop of singers in Kashmir, Uzma believes the people are always open for fresh voices and are accepting of new talent given their content is good quality and is well delivered.

Uzma has another song slated for release in February-March which she has written herself and will include other artists in a collaboration.
