In a alarming development The Periodical labor force survey conducted by the National Statistical Officer has revealed that J&K has second highest rate of unemployed graduates and post-graduates.
The survey also reveals that Nagaland has the highest number of unemployed graduates and post-graduates.
According to the data, the unemployment rate among males in rural areas having passed class 10th stands at 1.6%. 9.8% of those who have passed their class 12 are unemployed.
More than 58 percent of diploma and certificate holders are unemployed.
14.9 percent of graduates and 7.9 percent postgraduates are unemployed.
In urban areas, the unemployment rate among males having passed class 10th is 4 percent while 12.8 percent pass outs are unemployed.
18.9 percent in diploma holders, unemployment among the graduates stands at 13.9% and among the postgraduates is 10.8%, the data reveals.
The unemployment rate among males in urban areas who have passed class 10th is 4%, while the rate for class 12th passouts is 12.8%.
18.9 per cent of diploma holders, 13.1 percent of graduates and 1.8 per cent of postgraduates are unemployed.
Among the females, in urban areas, unemployment stands at 33.1% among the matriculates, 48.2% among 12th pass, 25.2% among diploma holders, graduates and postgraduates and 44.8%.

In October the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) revealed that the unemployment rate in J&K touched a new low with 22.2% in the UT jobless.
