IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans stormed into the IPL final in their debut campaign thanks to captain Hardik Pandya and David Miller blitz.

Rajasthan Royals were put to bat first by Gujarat and they were rewarded when Yashasvi Jaiswal got out in just the second over. But skipper Sanju Samson joined forces with Jos Butler and turned things around swiftly.

55 runs were scored in the powerplay as Rajasthan mounted a comeback. The advent of spin, and Rashid Khan in particular, after the powerplay though allowed Gujarat to pull things back quickly.

Rashid did not concede even a single boundary in his spell of 4-10-15-0 and Sai Kishore got rid of the dangerous looking Samson for 47 off 26 balls.

It was now up to Jos Butler to take charge and having struggled initially he was dropped on 43 off 39 when Hardik slipped at long-off. This proved to be critical as he got 10 boundaries in his last 18 balls finally departing for 89 off 56 balls as Royals posted 188 runs in 20 overs.

The chase began in nightmare fashion for Gujarat as Wriddhiman Saha was out caught behind against Trent Boult in just the second ball of the innings.

However, both Matthew Wade and Shubman Gill went on a counterattack fueled by some insipid bowling inside the powerplay.

Both batters kept the run rate going and took Rajasthan bowlers to cleaners. Boult conceded 31 in 3 overs, Ashwin went wicketless giving away 40 runs in his 4 overs.

A 72-run stand ended after a massive mix-up led to the run out of Gill for 35. Obed McCoy also got the wicket of Wade for the same amount of runs leaving Titans at 85/3 in 9.3 overs.

With 104 needed in about 10 overs the game was finely poised. Hardik Pandya and David Miller put on a ruthless batting display to take the game away from Rajasthan.

Pandya batted with aplomb scoring 40 runs off 27 balls that included 5 fours. But Miller was the destroyer in chief.

The South African got to a half-century off 35 balls. It boiled down to 16 off the final over bowled by Prasidh Krishna.

David Miller finished it sensationally with three consecutive sixes smashed over the legside and remained unbeaten on 68 off 38 lightning up the Eden Gardens as Gujarat Titans reached IPL 2022 final.
